APB FOUNDATION INSPIRE PROGRAMME

To inspire local arts in their creative endeavours, the APB Foundation unveiled an arts adoption initiative named the APB Foundation Inspire Programme in February 2008.

Opened to emerging practitioners of performing, literary and visual arts, the programme funded specific plans drawn up by arts organisations and/or artists that would bring their works to the next level. It also embraced efforts that enable them to advance towards their goals through training and enhanced their capabilities thereby improving their sustainability.

Through the three-year programme, the adopted beneficiaries received S$30,000 per annum from the APB Foundation.

Cake Theatre became one of the five arts groups in
2008 to benefit from the APB Foundation Inspire Programme.

This was an effort by the APB Foundation to support the public-private partnership in arts development initiated by the National Arts Council (NAC). The Council also facilitated the selection of the inaugural cohort of beneficiaries comprising:

  • Apsaras Arts, an Indian dance group;
  • Angkatan Sasterawan ’50, a Malay literary arts group;
  • Ding Xiaoyan Ruan Ensemble, a Chinese Orchestra;
  • Cake Theatrical Productions, a newcomer in western-style theatre; and
  • Sculpture Society (Singapore), a sculpture or visual arts group.
