August 2004 APB Foundation Enables Physically Disabled Scholars
Collaborating with the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD), the SPD-Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation Scholarship was set up to reward physically disabled students for their outstanding academic achievements. This Scholarship was made possible with a donation of $220,000 from the APB Foundation. $11,000 is awarded to each of the undergraduates each year. This covers their tuition fees at a local University, books and their day-to-day expenses. Impressed by the exceptional qualifications and great spirit demonstrated by these youths, the Foundation and SPD decided to award three candidates instead of two this year. The recipients included Cai Zhenquan, a Computing student from the National University of Singapore; Nurulasyiqah Mohammad Taha, an Accountancy student and Liew Chong Choon a Business Management student, both from the Singapore Management University. The scholars received their awards from Mr Chan Soo Sen, Minister of State for Education, on 25 August 2004.
