APB Foundation Encourages The Physically-Challenged To Excel In Their Studies With An Undergraduate Scholarship

APB Foundation has collaborated with the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) in Singapore to set up a SPD-Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation Scholarship for physically-challenged students. Recognizing students with physical disabilities for their outstanding academic achievements and encouraging them to aspire to higher levels of education attainment, this Scholarship also accords them with the due credit and recognition that they deserve in their academic pursuit.

Pledging a total of $220,000 to this programme over a period of four years, the Foundation awards each successful candidate with $11,000/annum, which would adequately cover their tuition fees at one of the local universities i.e. National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) or Singapore Management University (SMU), allowances for books, living and transportation expenses.

Since its launch in 2004, the SPD-Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation Scholarship has been awarded to the following outstanding students:
  • Nurulasyiqah Bte Mohammad Taha, currently pursuing Accountancy at SMU,
  • Liew Chong Choon, currently pursuing Business Management at SMU,
  • Cai Zhenquan, currently pursuing Computer studies at NUS,
  • Jan Lee Junhui, currently pursuing Accountancy at NTU, and
  • Liew Chong Heng, currently pursuing Information Systems Management at SMU.

As a sponsor of this Scholarship, APB Foundation strongly believes that a good education is the key for these physically-challenged students to ultimately lead financially independent lives and contribute as full and active members of the society.
