24 July 2007 Archipelago Celebrates A Year of Excellence In Craft Beer Special birthday variant marks its 1st anniversary milestone Archipelago Brewery (Archipelago) turns one this July! The business has certainly come of age since its launch on 24 July 2006. In the past twelve months, Archipelago has not only succeeded in making house-hold names of its three variants - Archipelago Traveller’s Wheat, Archipelago Straits Pale and Archipelago Trader’s Brown Ale, it has also gone on to introduce various special edition brews such as the popular Archipelago Ming and Archipelago Java, just to name a few. The Archipelago brand has also been brought to a second outlet, The Straits located at 31 Pekin Street in late 2006. More recently, its three regular variants were also launched in pint bottles for the first time. They are now available at leading premium outlets and city supermarkets islandwide. “When the idea for reviving the Archipelago brand first came about, our aim was to cultivate a sense of adventure among beer lovers, introducing them to the world of craft beers and bespoke beer recipes featuring unique Asian spices. Seeing the success of the business so far and our achievements in the past year gives us a sense of immense pride and satisfaction. We have truly kept to our promise of engaging Singaporeans to explore, discover and enjoy all the wonderful facets craft beers have to offer.” said Andrea Teo, General Manager of Archipelago Brewery. In true Archipelago tradition, Fal Allen, Brewmaster of Archipelago Brewery, has come up with an exclusive birthday variant – Archipelago Samui to commemorate this special occasion. “No Archipelago birthday celebration would be complete without a unique signature brew to toast to the occasion. Archipelago Samui, as its name would suggest, conjures up images of the romantic island life in the Archipelago with the refreshing taste of calamansi lime in the brew. It just leaves one wishing they were relaxing on a beach savouring this new addition to the Archipelago family!” added Fal. This exclusive birthday beer is brewed with calamansi lime and pandan leaves, and has a tangy and surprisingly refreshing citrus taste, with a hint of sweetness. Archipelago Samui is a light wheat ale that goes best with grilled meats, salads and spicy dishes like Thai, Vietnamese, Malay or Sichuan dishes. As a special birthday treat, Archipelago fans will stand a chance to win a trip for two to the lovely island resort of Koh Samui for a relaxing holiday! From 5 July to 2 September 2007, a purchase of two glasses of their favourite Archipelago brew will qualify them for a chance to win the top prize of a trip for two to Koh Samui worth $2,500! Other prizes include an exclusive Archipelago hamper consisting of 10 Archipelago beer vouchers, 6 bottles of Archipelago beers, 2 Archipelago 330ml glasses and an Archipelago bottle opener worth $170, as well as limited edition Archipelago postcard packs. ARCHIPELAGO SAMUI – A Taste of Refreshing Haven
To commemorate Archipelago’s first anniversary, Brewmaster Fal decided to go out on a hunt for that special ingredient in this exclusive birthday brew. He felt that the sharp taste of the calamansi lime would truly be complemented by the aromatic herb – pandan leaf, creating a concoction that is both zesty and invigorating. Best enjoyed when paired with tangy BBQ sauces, grilled meats, pizza, salads, and spicy dishes such as Thai, Vietnamese, Malay or Sichuan cuisine, Archipelago Samui is simply refreshing!
