CORPORATE PROFILE
ORIGIN
Listed on the Singapore Exchange, Asia Pacific Breweries Limited (APB) is one of the key players in the beer industry. A joint venture between the Fraser and Neave Group of companies and Heineken, APB was established as Malayan Breweries Limited (MBL) in 1931. The company went on to open its first brewery in Singapore and launched the award-winning Tiger beer a year later. Over time, MBL took its business beyond Singapore and added new beer brands to its portfolio of brews.
A DIVERSIFIED GEOGRAPHICAL FOOTPRINT
To more accurately reflect the growing regionalisation of its business interests, MBL was renamed Asia Pacific Breweries Limited in 1990. Today, APB operates an extensive global marketing network, which spreads across 60 countries and is supported by 30 breweries in 14 countries including Singapore, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
APB’s diversified footprint in the Asia Pacific region has enabled the Group to benefit from the region’s economic development, and capitalise on the opportunities for long term growth. In fact, our continual growth and profitable track record have earned us a spot in the 2011 Forbes Asia’s Fab 50 list of the 50 most profitable listed companies with large market capitalization from the region.
A WINNING PORTFOLIO
APB boasts a winning portfolio of over 40 beer brands and brand variants, including Tiger beer, Heineken, Anchor beer, ABC Extra Stout and Baron’s Strong Brew.
APB is synonymous with Tiger beer which is brewed in 10 countries and offered in 60 markets worldwide. The Group also represents Heineken in nine markets namely Singapore, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Thailand, Vietnam. Together with our regional brand offerings, Anchor beer and ABC Extra Stout, we also serve local beer brands such as Gold Crown in Cambodia; SP Lager in and Papua New Guinea; Tui in New Zealand; and Larue in Vietnam amongst others.
Collectively, they form a combination of global, regional and local brews that cater to every preference and drinking occasion in the respective markets.
DEDICATION TO EXCELLENCE
APB beers are brewed under the supervision of Heineken technical experts, who can call upon more than a century’s experience of European brewing excellence. We use only the finest ingredients, maintain the most stringent brewing standards, and conduct over 200 quality checks during the process. This explains why APB beers are award-winning brands while its breweries are among the forerunners in their respective markets with various quality assurance certifications including the ISO 9002, ISO 9001:2000, and the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point.
In yet another recognition of our commitment to brewing excellence, APB was named the prestigious Brewers Association World Beer Cup 2010 Champion Brewery and Brewmaster for the Large Brewing Company category.
GIVING TO THE COMMUNITIES
APB is also one of the few corporate organisations in Singapore to set up its own philanthropic foundation, the Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation (APB Foundation). The APB Foundation renders financial aid to causes in Creativity Development, achievements in Human Excellence and Humanitarian Awards.
Our breweries too play a vital role in giving back to the communities in which they operate. Being socially responsible, each of them renders support to the various education, social and environmental causes in the respective countries.
