29 May 2009 Announcement Asia Pacific Breweries Limited ("APB" or the "Company") refers to the various media reports that the Indian operations of APB may be integrated with United Breweries Limited ("UB"). APB wishes to clarify that the Company has been in discussions with Heineken since Heineken's acquisition of Scottish and Newcastle, which has a stake in UB. There is neither an agreement nor any assurance that a definitive or binding agreement regarding APB's businesses in India will be entered into. Shareholders of APB are therefore advised to refrain from taking any action in relation to their shares in APB which may be prejudicial to their interests, and to exercise caution when dealing in their shares in APB. An announcement will be issued by APB in the event there are any material developments.
